Youth Summer Makers Series: Woodworking (Thursdays)

We are thrilled to announce our Youth Summer Makers Series at the Curious Goose Community Workshop!

Whether your child is already a budding carpenter or just starting out, we have four weeks of hands-on projects designed to practice essential skills, gain valuable confidence and go home with something they can be proud of.

Thursdays: Woodworking Kits – The big build day! Kids will assemble and take home custom woodworking projects designed and prepped at the Curious Goose.

Who Can Join?

This series is designed for makers ages 10 and up.

Safety First: To ensure everyone has a helping hand, children ages 6-9 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. (No extra charge for the grown-up assistant!)

Fall After School Workshops

Our fall workshops take your child on a complete, hands-on maker’s journey as the seasons change, transitioning from building practical tools for the new school year to crafting beautiful, heirloom decor for the family table.

Whether you book a single month or bundle the whole season, your little maker will expand their focus, develop finer motor skills, and experience the prideful joy of creating real, functional things with their own two hands.

Youth Classes & Camps

Carving Club

Join us at our regular Carving Club on Wednesdays and Fridays!

This is an opportunity to carve and whittle any number of projects, either from a selection of provided blanks, or of your own design that we’ll cut out on the bandsaw. Whether you’re a beginner or life-long whittler, this is a time for folks of all ages to gather around the shop, get connected and stay creative.

Other Details

Become a monthly member or purchase a punch pass (picked up at the shop your first session)
All experience levels are welcome! Come to learn and discover or just to practice in the company of others
Great for ages 10 and up (Kids 8-9 can have a great time too, but we recommend them attending with a parent or caretaker)
Price includes lots of carving materials and all the carving tools and finishing products (as appropriate). Monthly members can attend as many sessions as they wish.
Please wear closed-toe shoes to class. Shop aprons and all safety gear will be provided.

Fall Season Pass — After School Workshop

The Fall Season Pass (September – November)

Set your young maker up for a season of creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on confidence! Our Fall Season pass takes kids on a complete workshop journey, starting with building focus and routine through organizational tools and ending with crafting cozy, heirloom decor for the next family gathering. Grab the full season pass to give them a weekly rhythm of resilience, screen-free fun, and the unmistakable pride of building real, useful things with their own two hands.

The Need-to-Know Details

The Schedule: 12 Week Series — choose attending either Mondays OR Tuesdays. Our first session will be on the Labor Day Monday and we will be meeting Thanksgiving Monday; if you have plans, you may choose to attend those Tuesdays instead. Since November has 5 Mondays, we will take a break and not have class the first Monday and Tuesday of November.
The Time: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM (almost) every week.
Who It's For: Designed specifically for elementary-aged makers (Ages 6–12)
The projects: Each month will have a selection of projects to choose from. Each participant will be encouraged to take their design as far as makes sense for their skill and age.

Price: $35 per month just to cover material costs and prep time for the projects. We appreciate you’ll be helping us by attending, too!

September — After School Workshop

This month, we are designing and building personalized organizational projects to provide structure and routine where things get busy. October — After School Workshop

As the days get cooler, we’re bringing the kids together to build interactive wooden games and handy tools to help with the changing season. This month introduces simple mechanics and the proper tools on projects they will actually want to play with and be useful around the house. They’ll practice attentive focus and finer motor skills while crafting fun, durable pieces designed to be shared.

The Schedule: 4 Week Series — choose attending either Mondays (5th, 12th, 19th and 26th) OR Tuesdays (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th). Please note that we will still be having class on Thanksgiving Monday; if you are unable to attend, you are invited to join the Tuesday class that week.

November — After School Workshop

Before the holiday rush takes over, we’re slowing down and working on projects that invite reflection and connection. Your kids will build beautiful decor pieces that bring light back into the home and provide opportunities to take a pause and be present. It’s a wonderful way for them to craft a little extra connection for your family while learning valuable skills and keeping busy when it’s harder to be outside.

The Time: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM every week.

Have your next birthday party at the Curious Goose!

We host private birthday parties on Saturdays from 1-3 pm in the workshop.

Kids will all build a fun project and then use it to participate in a fun game or activity as a whole group. The cost includes all project materials, group facilitation and cleanup.

You are welcome to bring any snacks, cake and other refreshments you wish to have between the activities (typically ~ 45 minutes).

The starting cost is $250 and includes 10 kids; it is $20 per additional kid (in attendance). We’ll send you some project options to choose from and have the kits ready for the big day.
